Color Field
Sculptural Installations
"In
a painterly approach to sculpture, shimmering multi-hued
transparencies are layered to create prismatic patterns of
color and light as one tinted form appears and disappears
behind another.
Color Field Sculpture, at once corporeal and ephemeral, is
delicate and airy. Sheers of powder coated mesh play in the
changing light to describe the dichotomy between our
physical and spiritual aspects, presence / absence, and the
transitory nature of form."
Shelley Parriott
Exhibited in New York City, throughout the Hudson Valley of New York,
the USA and Europe, Shelley Parriott's sculpture has received numerous
honors and awards. Among these are a travel grant from the US Embassy
Berlin, Germany, in connection with a three- artist exhibition at
Berlin’s Max Planck Institute for Human Development, a Best in Show
award at The Silvermine Guild Art Center’s prestigious Art of the
Northeast USA competition, a "Lorenzo il Magnifico Sculpture Medallion"
awarded by an international jury including Barbara Rose and Dr.John T.
Spike at the Biennale Internazionale dell’ Arte Contemporanea, Florence,
Italy, and support from the New York Foundation for the Arts. Her Color
Field Installation at The Coral Springs Museum of Art is inspired by the
luminous Florida sky.
The beauty of these works is their ability
to assert themselves without obscuring the marvelous views
of land and riverscapes visible through the sheer mesh.

Parriott’s work is ethereal. Colorful wire mesh multiples
interact with their surroundings, sunlight dances through
the sculpture and beckons the viewer to take part.

Barely incarnate polychromes of sheer mesh invent Color
Field Sculpture as they shift and reconfigure in the
changing light.
